    A Technician I or II– Substation & Transmission (S&T) provides the technical skills required to give Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation (AECC) a soundly constructed, properly maintained, and reliably operated power delivery system. We’re looking for someone who can maintain a high degree of situational awareness to meet continually changing system conditions with a fresh and adaptable approach.     • Participates in the installation, maintenance and testing programs for AECC's or member cooperatives' substations and transmission lines.
    • Ensures compliance with AECC's Prescribed System Maintenance and Testing Program and NERC Compliance and recordkeeping associated with AECC maintenance and tracking forms and documents.
    • Participates in the dispatch of inventory of parts and supplies used in substation maintenance and transmission line construction, inspection, and maintenance procedures.
    • Read substation data, collect and log data, visually inspect equipment at each substation and report problems.
    • Maintains and uses test equipment and tools used for construction, operations, and maintenance of substation equipment including breakers, transformers, regulators, switches and transmission lines.
    • Performs inspection of substations and transmission lines during prescribed inspection intervals.
    • Assists with the inspection, use and maintenance of AECC's mobile substations located within a district or region.
    • Instructs and trains technician helpers on technical, operational and safety standards.
    • Assists in participating in safety meetings on a monthly basis and implements safety in the work area.
    • Works with minimal supervision on assigned projects, including logging and maintaining documents suitable for NERC compliance.

    Minimum Qualifications

    *EEI Position Testing will be conducted as part of the selection process

    • High school diploma or GED, plus 2 years related experience and/or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience (Level I) OR Associate's Degree in Electronics, electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent plus 5 years experience (Level II)
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Certification as substation technician or equivalent


    Preferred Qualifications

    • Industrial Certification in Hydraulics Management, oil-filled equipment or other large industrial machinery
    • Journeyman Electrician License or Master Electrician License is also desirable
