The Manager – Transmission Engineering manages a team of engineers whose mission is to provide engineering services required to give AECC and member cooperatives well-designed, affordable, highly reliable substation and transmission facilities. In this position, you will be given the opportunity to work alongside peers who are versatile, enthusiastic, and continuing to strive to push AECC and our mission forward.


  • Supervises and leads the Transmission Engineering Team, including assignment of work, scheduling, monitoring and appraising employee performance, coaching and mentoring, developing core expertise within the team, disciplinary actions, assuring a high level of work quality and driving continuous improvement.
  • Manages the engineering design process and establish standards to deliver quality designs in a timely effective manner to meet the needs of project managers, sponsors and stakeholders utilizing internal and external resources as required. Designs include substations, switching stations, transmission lines, relay protection and control, and metering points.
  • Serves as overall project manager for the transmission portfolio of projects, in accordance with the division project management framework including coordinating project development, budgeting, planning, scheduling resource allocation, execution and closeout.
  • Maintains close involvement with the Power Delivery Department on matters of construction, equipment installation and commissioning activities, and with the Transmission Planning Department on matters of AECC and member cooperative work plans, transmission interconnections with neighboring utilities and protective relaying design.
  • Manages design review of AECC and member cooperatives' investment credit facilities regarding adequacy, safety and adherence to standards and guidelines. Manages review of SCADA equipment and meter programming.
  • Manages examination of electrical loading and load characteristics on transmission lines, substations and metering points and implement improvements. Manages analysis of electrical requirements to serve large power loads on the transmission or distribution system and make recommendations and cost estimates to serve these loads.
  • Manages the preparation of specifications for procurement of substation and transmission equipment, materials and services and assists with the preparation, review, negotiation and administration of contracts for equipment, materials and services.

Prepares and presents the annual Transmission Engineering Team budget and organizational requirements to support departmental objectives


Minimum Qualifications

·         Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or similar related field, plus at least 8 years total professional experience including 5 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

·         Professional of Engineering License in the State of Arkansas

·         Valid Driver’s License
