    A Power Market Operator – Intern provides assistance to Power Market Operation (PMO) Staff in the management of available electric generation and other energy resources to meet AECC's load responsibility in an economic and efficient manner and to utilize energy marketing to benefit AECC.

    Responsibilities

     

    • Assists PMO staff in the development and the submitting of binding generation and resource offers in two Regional Transmission Organizations (RTO).
    • Assists PMO staff in the monitoring of AECC's demand in RTO markets in real time, and takes appropriate action to mitigate financial impact.
    • Assists PMO staff in the Calculation of the fuel requirements for AECC on-line generation in RTOs and communicates desire to AECC Fuels department.
    • Assists PMO staff in the monitoring of commercial customers and deployment of economic and reliability interruption when required.
    • Maintains high degree of situational awareness to meet constantly changing system conditions.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or GED, plus enrolled in a University in pursuit of a degree such as Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Business, Computer Science or similar related field.
    • Ability to work early morning and/or afternoon shifts, normally Friday through Monday.
